FAQ

The goal is to provide the highest quality of patient care. We pride ourselves in hiring qualified, experienced therapists and staff who listen to the patient’s specific goals and concerns. The therapist creates a customized treatment plan specific to the patient’s needs and goals.

The patient should wear comfortable clothing that is not restrictive to movement. The patient should also wear closed toe shoes. (Athletic clothes and tennis shoes or sneakers are highly recommended).

For many patients, one of the primary objectives is pain relief. This is frequently accomplished with hands-on techniques (manual therapy), modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and/or heat or cold therapy. Movement and exercise often provide pain relief as well. The physical therapist will provide the patient with the appropriate exercises not only for pain relief but to recover range of motion, strength, and endurance.

Physical Therapists • All therapists are required to obtain a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. DPT programs typically last 3 years. Most programs require a bachelor’s degree for admission as well as specific educational prerequisites, such as classes in anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, and physics. • Physical Therapists have transitioned from a bachelors, to a masters, and now to a doctorate degree.

One of the top priorities is to stay in constant communication with the patient’s physician. The goal is to collaborate with the physicians to create patient-specific protocols to ensure the quickest and best outcomes for each patient. We always strive to provide the most comprehensive care for the patient’s specific needs in order to achieve goals the patients have set with their healthcare providers.

At SWM your care team will include a physical therapist and a physical therapy assistant.  The evaluating physical therapist is always present to guide the treatment and answer any questions you would have.
