Dr. Nicholas Loafman, DO
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Loafman is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with a patient-centered approach rooted in personal experience. His interest in orthopedics began during college, where he competed as a collegiate athlete and experienced firsthand how injuries can disrupt an active lifestyle. That perspective continues to shape his care philosophy, and his greatest professional satisfaction comes from helping patients return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Loafman earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency through Midwestern University in Chicago, training at multiple high-volume hospitals and gaining broad experience in general orthopaedics, joint reconstruction, and sports-related injuries.
Dr. Loafman is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Michigan Orthopaedic Society.
His clinical interests include joint reconstruction of the hip, knee, and shoulder, including anterior hip replacement, as well as arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder, knee, and ankle. Dr. Loafman also has a strong focus on sports medicine and knee and shoulder replacement, with an emphasis on restoring mobility, function, and long-term joint health.

Dr. Joseph Farber, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Farber is a Michigan native and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and advanced joint care. He earned his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago.
Dr. Farber completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where he received comprehensive training in musculoskeletal care, trauma, and reconstructive surgery. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital.
During his fellowship in Houston, Dr. Farber served as a team physician for several high-level athletic organizations, including the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Dynamo, and Rice University football and baseball programs, gaining extensive experience treating sports-related injuries at the collegiate and professional levels.
Dr. Farber’s clinical interests include sports medicine, hip, shoulder, knee, and elbow reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic procedures, computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery, and trauma care, with a focus on helping patients safely return to activity and performance. He holds membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Daniel G. Sohn, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Sohn is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with deep roots in academic medicine and more than 25 years of service to patients in Southwest Michigan. A native of Chicago, he graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the same institution.
Dr. Sohn completed his general surgery internship at the University of Michigan, followed by his orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Michigan. He relocated to Southwest Michigan in 1999, where he has continued to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care to the community.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and holds membership in the American Medical Association, Michigan Orthopaedic Society, Michigan State Medical Society, and Berrien County Medical Society.
Dr. Sohn’s clinical interests include hip, shoulder, and knee reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic shoulder and knee procedures, orthopedic trauma, and sports medicine. He also has a strong focus on computer-assisted surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and anterior hip replacement, with an emphasis on improving outcomes and recovery for his patients.

Dr. Justin T. Sybesma, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Justin Sybesma, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon with advanced training in orthopaedic traumatology and reconstructive surgery. He completed a specialized Orthopaedic Traumatology and Reconstruction Surgery Fellowship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where he developed expertise in the management of complex musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr. Sybesma completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center through the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Flint, Michigan, completing his training in 2009. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Michigan Orthopaedic Society, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
Dr. Sybesma is also a Certified FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) providing medical examinations for private, commercial, and professional pilots. With a background in orthopaedic surgery and trauma care, Dr. Sybesma understands the physical demands of aviation and works efficiently to help pilots meet FAA medical certification requirements while minimizing delays.
Dr. Sybesma’s clinical interests include orthopaedic trauma and reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic procedures, and total joint replacement, with a focus on restoring function and improving long-term outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Andrew Kutzner, MD
Board-Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Andrew Kutzner, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in revision joint surgery and complex musculoskeletal care. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where he developed a strong foundation in patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Dr. Kutzner completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Corewell Health through the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, gaining extensive experience in general orthopaedics, fracture care, and joint reconstruction.
He went on to complete advanced fellowship training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he focused on revision joint replacement procedures, complex reconstructions, and the management of failed or previously implanted joint replacements.
Dr. Kutzner’s clinical focus is on restoring stability, function, and mobility for patients requiring revision hip and knee surgery, using advanced surgical techniques and a patient-centered approach to improve long-term outcomes.

Dr. Josiah Valk, DO
Board-Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Valk is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with advanced expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He focuses on helping patients recover from injury, restore function, and return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Valk earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont Health) in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he received comprehensive training in general orthopaedics, fracture care, and joint reconstruction.
He then completed a specialized Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at San Diego Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine in San Diego, California. During fellowship, Dr. Valk received advanced training in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques for sports-related injuries, shoulder instability, ligament and tendon injuries, and joint preservation.
Dr. Valk combines evidence-based surgical care with a patient-centered approach, working closely with rehabilitation teams to support safe recovery and long-term joint health.
